TYM Receives Prestigious Home Theater Design Award

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH.  Tym (pronounced ‘time’)—a leader in home entertainment and smart home design and installation—was presented with a TechHome® Mark of Excellence award for “Home Theater/Media Room Project of the Year up to $50,000” from the CTA™ (Consumer Technology Association), at CES 2018 in Las Vegas. The award recognizes Tym’s design and installation of custom high-end home theater, dubbed The Holladay Cinema, for a local Utah family. This is Tym’s third Mark of Excellence award.

THE HOLLADAY CINEMA
The Holladay Cinema is an open-concept design with the back being open to the home’s entertainment areas. A massive, custom-built 16-foot wide-screen displays stunning images from the Sony 4K HDR projector—making this a perfect room for hosting a big game night. 11 Paradigm speakers create an immersive 3D audio experience. 

A 4K HDR Kaleidescape movie server, 4K Blu-ray player, and 4K video tiling provide the highest quality video and audio. The video distribution means not only can the clients enjoy movies in the theater, but they can also view the surveillance cameras including those that cover the outdoor go-kart track. They can also put the same movie or ball game—full screen or video tiled—on the cinema screen, the game room TV at the same time for big parties.

This ultimate entertainment space features the latest in high-end home automation—including voice control. Everything from the lights to the video sources is easily controlled via Savant Pro automation from your phone, tablet, or via voice control. Say “turn on movie time” and the lights all dim as the projector, sound system, and movie server kick on. Say “turn on snack time” and the movie pauses while the lights fade up in the theater and kitchenette.

The Holladay Cinema features a custom Tym Signature Star Ceiling crafted from 7 miles of fiber optic filament. Each of the 1,200 stars was hand-placed into the sheetrock during construction—before a cosmos mural was then airbrushed on the ceiling to compliment the twinkling stars. 

With dimensions of 21 feet wide and 30 feet deep, the space has 3 rows of motorized seating on individual levels with a lower level for bean bags. A bar at the back gives the family flexibility for entertaining a large crowd. 

Custom home builder Tree Haven Homes was the contractor on this project with interior design by Danielle Loryn Design. The Holladay Cinema was recently seen by over 15,000 visitors during the 2017 Salt Lake Parade of Homes. Tym has worked closely with Tree Haven Homes to bring the latest and greatest in home technology to the Parade of Homes for the past 5 years.
