The Sky Lounge

During the 2016 Salt Lake Parade of Homes, a family came through and saw our StarLight Theatre. The family was building a townhome which would have a bonus room on the top floor that opened out onto a deck area with stunning views of the Wasatch Front. They weren't sure what to do with the space until they saw the StarLight Theatre. They describe the moment as kismet.

A home theater was a perfect use for their bonus room. Matt Montgomery, our lead designer, suggested they use a retractable screen so as not to block the stunning views of the mountains and to make the space more versatile. That way it could double as a guest room, or music lounge. The vision for The Sky Lounge was born.

This would be a partial retro-fit meaning a tray ceiling was framed in for the star ceiling, but we would have to retro a custom star ceiling into place. Each sheetrock panel was drilled and threaded with fibers and then transported to the home where our team installed the perfect ceiling for a space like this.

The end result is a multipurpose space that's ideal for entertaining. This home is literally only minutes away from world-class skiing, so The Sky Lounge is an ideal Après-ski space. The family can watch a movie with their Epson 6040UB projector and their Paradigm speakers in an Anthem-powered 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos audio system, or just listen to high-resolution audio while.

The Sky Lounge is kismet.
