How Our New DIY Home Security Service Works

Since launching our DIY Security program, we’ve been getting more and more calls and emails asking us how it works, and if it’s really that easy? ABSOLUTELY! Anyone can do it.

There was a day when you legitimately needed a certified alarm installer, but that’s all changing. Today’s Home Security Systems are nearly plug and play.  And just to be sure you’re comfortable, we do a lot of the heavy lifting for you.

Even cooler is that we’re using the most popular Home Security System on the marke; not some run of the mil system. As an added bonus, it works with a number of today’s popular Smart Home products.  More on that in a minute.

So real quick, I want to show you how it all works, and why you’re going to love it.

How Our DIY Program Works

Step 1: Design and Purchase.  First things first, we need you to design and purchase your system.  We’ve got some great resources for you if you want to research your options.  You can also call or email us and we’ll answer any or your questions about the right system design for your needs. Once you’ve approved the system and design, we’ll add it to an online cart for you to finalize.  And then the fun begins.

Step 2: We Program it.  After we receiver your purchase, we’ll contact you for basic information we need to program your system.  We actually preprogram your entire Security System.  Don’t worry, if you’re excited to program your own system you’ll still be able to, but we ship the system preprogrammed for our Clients who are a little intimidated by that part of the process.

Step 3: You Install it. When you receive your Security System, it’s all programmed and ready to go.  All you have to do is plug in the keypad, and install the sensors. The keypad sits on a counter, and plugs into an outlet on the wall.  As soon as it turns on it’s ready to go.  The sensors will all be labeled for placement, Front Door, Back Door, and so on. We provide basic directions, and videos on YouTube, but we doubt you’ll need them.

It’s so simple, most people in our space call it ‘lick and stick.’ As a last resort, you can always call us and we’ll walk you through any questions you have. For privacy and security, there are some basic things like your security code that we’ll have you add in after your receive the system. Otherwise, as soon as you have the keypad powered on and the sensors placed the system will be running.

Step 4 (Optional): Setting up your Security Monitoring. For those electing Security Monitoring, there’s one final step to verify your system is actually sending signals to the monitoring station. It’s actually kind of fun.  You deliberately set off your alarm system, and verify that all the sensors are working properly.  This usually takes 5-10 minutes, and then your system is up and running with monitoring.
