Here’s a quick rundown of how a Savant Audio system builds out, and what the costs are.
Like Control4, Savant can integrate with third-party solutions like Sonos, Autonomic, Alexa, etc.
But for this post, I’m going to show you gear that’s native to Savant or Manufactured by Savant.
If this is your first time reading one of our ‘What’s It Cost’ posts, be sure to check out our 30 second video on how our pricing works here.
Savant Hosts
Unlike Control4, the ‘Music Servers’ are separate from the Savant Hosts. So you don’t need to factor those into your budget.
But the Savant Host does limit the number of Rooms with Audio you can have in the house. So I want you to be aware of how that works.
Savant has 3 Hosts
Savant Smart Host w/control2
Up to 6 rooms of Audio
$500
Savant Smart Host
Up to 18 rooms of audio
$1,000
Savant Pro Host
Unlimited rooms of audio
$2,000
Savant Audio Solutions
Savant has 2 different Audio solutions. They offer the Matrix and Amplifier solution as separates, and an all in one solution called a Savant Pro Audio 4.
Savant Matrix and Amplifiers
Savant’s Audio Matrix supports 20 Zones of Audio, and 32 Inputs for sound. It retails for $2,500.
You’ll also need Amplifies with your Matrix. Savant has 3 to choose from. They have two different options for 8 Channel Amplifiers.
One offers 40 watts per channel, the other offers 120 watts per channel. They also offer a 16 Channel Amplifier.
Savant Music Server
If you’re using the Savant Matrix and Amplifiers you’ll need to purchase a Savant Music Server as well. Each Server provides 1 Stream of Internet Music – Pandora, Spotify, etc.
If you want more than one stream of Internet Music at one moment, you’ll need to purchase additional music servers.

Savant Pro Audio 4
The Savant Pro Audio 4 is an Audio Switch, and Amplifier built into one piece of hardware. The name is a little misleading.
It’s a 6 zone Audio Switch, with 4 zones of Amplification, and 1 Stream of Music. You’ll need separate Amplifiers for both the 5th and 6th zones.
The 6th zone requires a special Amplifier with IP or Serial Volume Control, which can be expensive.
So when we design a system with a Pro Audio 4, we usually plan the system as thouhg each Pro Audio 4 supports 5 Zones of Audio.
Savant Pro Audio 4
$2,500
Now the cool thing about the Pro Audio 4, is that you can stack them for larger projects. The Pro Audio 4s will support up to 96 zones. And each new Pro Audio 4 adds an additional stream of music.
The Pro Audio 4 is designed for the AV over IP movement that’s coming, and is network based. So you need a special Network Switch from Savant, when you add an additional Pro Audio 4.
Savant MOTU
AVB Switch
$295
Each MOTU AVB Switch will support up to 4 additional Pro Audio 4s.
Per Room Average
As always we like to give you a price per room average so you can guestimate your budget.
So we’re on the same page, we factor $105 for Prewire, which includes the speaker wire and speaker brackets, and $100 pair of value line speakers into the price.
Matrix & Amplifier – $867 – $617
This includes 1-3 Music Servers, and 8-20 rooms of amplification, plus speakers. With Savant, this solution is really best for larger applications.
That’s where it starts to become very cost effective in comparison to other solutions.
Savant Pro Audio 4 – $785 per room
The Pro Audio 4 requires a separate Amplifier for the 5th zone. So we’ve included pricing for the separate Amplifier, as well as 5 pairs of speakers and the Pro Audio 4.
Savant Pro Audio 4 pricing is a little miss leading, those 5th and 6th zones will incorporate separate amplifiers.
Normally, these amplifiers will be powering zones like a covered deck with multiple speakers.
So the pricing will likely average out less than $785 per room, but on paper, that’s how it pencils out.
